Paris-based designer Calla Haynes grew up in Toronto and moved to New York to attend the Parsons School of Design. Upon arriving in Paris more than a decade ago, she began working with Olivier Theyskens at Rochas and Nina Ricci, finessing her textile and print design skills while absorbing the savoir-faire unique to French luxury houses.

With the launch of her namesake label in 2009, Haynes established a fresh balance between refined and relaxed. Her Europe-made production adheres to luxury standards; her look embraces ingénue ease.

Haynes creates her collections as narratives that begin by imagining a distinctive muse. She then develops a range of complex, artistic prints that complement her couture-quality fabrics. Finally, she builds the wardrobe – from soigné party dresses to dressy sweatshirts. These seasonal stories come alive during New York Fashion Week as tableaux vivants and later, as original videos that are featured on Style.com. Her designs appear on stage and screen – in France and abroad – and stand out on the pages of top fashion publications.

Consulting and collaborations provide Haynes with additional outlets for creative expression; standout brand partnerships include Samsung, denim label April 77 and conscientious clothier Honest By. In 2013, she designed a capsule collection for Comptoir des Cotonniers and conceived a custom print wrap for a Toyota Yaris Hybrid.

Haynes has received ongoing recognition from industry influencers, most notably as a four-time nalist for the ANDAM Award, the largest prize given to young designers in France. She was also nominated as a finalist for the prestigious Dorchester Fashion Prize in 2012.

Haynes works from her studio in the north Marais and is constantly inspired and entertained by her dog, Lilybear, a photogenic Chow Chow who has garnered a loyal following on the @CallaParis Instagram page.
